Turtle Pecan  Pie Brownies

Weigh out the ingredients

You'll need flour, powdered sugar, butter, cocoa powder, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, caramel sauce, chocolate, pecans, vanilla, and salt.

Make the shortbread

Cream the butter, then add powdered sugar and vanilla, and fold in flour and salt. Press dough into baking pan and make it level, then chill for 30 minutes. Dock the dough and bake for 15 mins or just until it no longer looks doughy.

Melt chocolate and butter, then cool. In a large bowl, add sugars, eggs, and vanilla. Beat on high speed for 3-4 mins until doubled in size. Slowly pour in chocolate mixture until combined, then fold in dry ingredients.

Make brownie layer

Pour the brownie batter on top of the warm shortbread crust and quickly smooth out into an even layer. Bake for about 18 minutes or until it forms a shiny top.

Bake the brownie layer

In a medium bowl, whisk together the caramel sauce, flour, brown sugar, salt, eggs, and teaspoon vanilla extract until fully combined. Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate until evenly dispersed.

Make turtle pecan filling

Pour the pecan mixture on top of the brownie layer in your baking dish and smooth out. Bake for 20 minutes or until completely set and evenly golden on top. Allow the pecan pie brownies to cool at room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight.
